Situated on 55 acres along the beautiful South Thompson River, the Kentucky style lodging at the South Thompson Inn will have you feeling like you've traveled back in time.

 

Staying at the comforting South Thompson Inn, the large property offers mountain and river views. Balconies overlooking the river or hills, lounge chairs at which to enjoy your fresh morning coffee and individually decorated guest rooms are just a few of the features at the Inn.

 

Upon arrival, the South Thompson Inn is everything its name suggests: cozy and southern. Although the vibe is southern, its location is not — lucky for us, it’s situated right in our very own backyard. Only a short drive from Kamloops, B.C. this is a perfect stopover for those traveling from Alberta to the West Coast, or better yet, a night away for Kamloops locals.

Be greeted by a welcoming host, who will have you checked in promptly. And, the journey back in time continues as guests staying at the Inn are given antique keys for their appointed room. As you head down the hallway, you almost feel as if you’ve stepped onto the Titanic, from the soft meringue paint colour to the beadboard that lines the walls.

 

The Inn once housed a working ranch and thoroughbred breeding facility and you can still feel that vibe from the design’s Kentucky inspiration. Each guestroom is named after a racehorse, consists of dark wood furnishings and rustic hardwood floors.

 

Not only that, selected rooms are equipped with jacuzzi tubs and warmed with a fireplace. What you won’t see is a refrigerator or coffee maker as the owners believe in serving fresh  Lavazza coffee. The friendly staff will bring it to your room or have it brewed and ready for when you arrive at the lounge area.

Fresh food from their fully-licensed Bourbon lounge is created in-house by their executive chef and can be eaten in either the lounge area or the casual dining room "madisens."

When you’re not cozying fireside in the library or enjoying a fresh bite from the restaurant, head out by foot or grab one of the Inn’s bikes and explore the beautiful grounds. Depending on the season, The South Thompson Inn is home to many animals — say hello to the horses, llamas or turtles.

Continue the adventure by walking along the reflection pond during a beautiful nature walk where you’ll see local plants and flowers. If the temperature doesn’t fit a leisurely stroll, enjoy the river views from the hot tub or the seasonal heated swimming pool.

Above and beyond it all, everything is beautifully prepared at the Inn. Enjoy one of the 57 guest rooms or escape to the private manor house or rustic carriage house suites. The South Thompson Inn has rooms that will suit every guest's needs and offers much more than the traditional hotel experience.
